What is Funding?
Funding refers to a structured process where you first prove your trading skills in a simulated (or evaluated) account environment, and upon meeting their performance and risk management criteria, you’re granted capital from the firm to trade live—without risking your own funds. Earning a Funded Account
Upon passing the evaluation, you graduate to a Funded Account—either instant or in stages -In this phase, you trade real firm capital but must still respect drawdown rules and other risk constraints. -Typically, you need a set number of profitable days before you can withdraw (e.g., 5 days with $200+ each in Topstep)
Risk Controls & Rules
They enforce strict measures: -Daily loss limits (e.g., 2% per day) -Max drawdown, which can be trailing (adjusting upward as you gain) -Some firms allow resets for a fee; others simply renew your evaluation period
